DESOTO COUNTY - People in Desoto County are preparing for tropical storm winds pushing 39 mph and may see gusts as high as 50 mph.
Emergency operation center officials said 1.31 inches of rain had fallen by noon and predicted 2 to 4 inches will fall later today. Neither Horse Creek nor Peace River is expected to flood, officials said.
All government offices and public schools are closed today, and all shelters will be closed by 2 p.m., officials said.
