FROSTPROOF - Conditions are worsening in southeastern Polk County. Winds are intensifying and driving rain horizontally as Tropical Storm Fay cuts a northeasterly path through the state.
Roads are mostly empty of traffic, and many businesses are closed from Lake Wales to Frostproof. There is little damage, however, except for palm fronds and branches lining the highways.
The wettest and windiest conditions are yet to come, though. A tornado watch remains in effect in Polk County until 4 p.m.
