6:20 a.m.: Downtown Naples is very quiet.
The streets are empty. The only people we've seen out this morning are other news crews and a few police officers.
Tropical Storm Fay has come on shore just south of our location. So far, at 6: 20 a.m., the wind and rain from Fay has been very minimal in downtown Naples.
Sustained winds near the center of the storm, are reported to be at 60 mph. In downtown Naples, with a hand-held wind gauge, we have not measured any winds above 15 mph, although our location is somewhat shielded by the buildings around us.
Some businesses in the Naples area did prepare for Fay by boarding up, but most businesses and home owners chose not to take any major precautions.
The Naples area has seen its share of hurricane damage before. In 2005, Hurricane Wilma delivered significant damage to the area, but so far, Fay is no Wilma.
