9:51 a.m. Meet the Breakfast Club, a group of friends who meet almost every day for their morning meal at a cafe on Upham Beach.
The members, from left, are JoAnn and Peter Lousberg, May Shorr, Howie and Jeani Fullard, and Sigi Vogel. The dog on Howie's lap is My Boy - "MB" for short.
Their favorite cafe closed this morning in anticipation of Tropical Storm Fay, but the Breakfast Club still got together. They picked up breakfast at McDonald's and brought it to the beach, where they could enjoy the view and each other's company.
When hurricane season comes around, the group lives by the motto "No storm is too great." They acknowledge that hurricanes can be hard to deal with, but they are thankful that the storms at least come with warnings, unlike earthquakes or blizzards. If conditions were too severe, though, they say they would evacuate.
