TAMPA - At 2:45 p.m. today, the wind chimes on front porches are signaling what might be Tropical Storm Fay finally reaching Central Tampa.
Trees and hanging plants are blowing in a breeze that seems to come in bands. A few small limbs are littering the neighborhood streets, and leaves are being tossed across lawns.
At least one house on East Crenshaw Avenue in Seminole Heights has a few windows boarded up.
Most people who are home seem to be enjoying the day off. Parents trying to occupy children home from closed schools and day cares are arranging play dates and taking youngsters to parks to enjoy the intermittent sunshine. Others are holed up in their homes watching movies.
