Deputies have arrested a man they say robbed a Largo convenience store this morning of cash and lottery tickets after striking the cashier on the back of the head with a handgun.
Chasin Tyrone Walker, 28, of 12840 Seminole Blvd., Largo, was charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery.
According to a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release:
Walker entered the Circle K store at 13396 Seminole Blvd. about 4 a.m., picked up a water bottle from a cooler and approached the counter. The store clerk recognized Walker as a regular customer.
She also noticed Walker wearing a scarf around his neck and asked him why. Walker said he used it to commit robberies, then pulled out a handgun.
He went behind the counter and demanded cash, but the clerk had trouble opening the cash register. Walker thought the clerk was stalling and struck her on the back of the head with the gun.
He left on a bicycle with cash and scratch-off lottery tickets.
Walker was arrested this afternoon while leaving his home with a garbage bag that contained the jacket he wore during the robbery, deputies said.
He was being held at Pinellas County Jail. Bail was set at $100,000.
