Bradenton Sailor Arrested On Child Porn Charges

BRADENTON – A Navy sailor from Bradenton was booked into the Manatee County Jail on child pornography charges Tuesday.

Marcos O. Aponte, 30, of the 4000 block of 24th Avenue West, is accused of posing as a teenager and sending child porn and nude images of himself to someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy in New Hampshire, authorities said.

Aponte was actually conversing online with a New Hampshire detective who investigates sex crimes.

Police detectives searched Aponte's Bradenton home and took two computers and a compact disc, according to an arrest warrant.

Aponte was training in Norfolk, Va., at the time of the search and was taken into custody on the naval base.

Aponte was arrested Tuesday in Manatee County on charges of computer pornography and transmitting material harmful to a minor by electronic device.
