BRADENTON - A Bradenton man was arrested on a DUI charge after he rammed into the passenger side of a stopped Bradenton Police Department patrol car at about 10 a.m. today.
William J. Hoppes, 54, was likely intoxicated when his Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck veered across the roadway and smacked the right front side of the patrol car, pushing it about 10 feet, the Bradenton Police Department said.
Bradenton Police Master Patrol Officer Sean O'Leary was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital for minor neck pain and evaluation.
O'Leary was at a stop sign in the patrol car in the driveway to the City Yard, located at 705 13th Ave. W. The truck was moving west on 13th Avenue and swerved through the eastbound lane into the patrol car.
