TAMPA - The names, birth dates and test scores of thousands of students in Sarasota accidentally were published on a Princeton Review Web site.
The superintendent of the Sarasota school district said about 34,000 students in the second through 10th grades who used a Princeton Review program to study for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test are affected by the security breach.
The information was available on the test preparation company's Web site from late June until Monday. The New York Times learned of the breach.
In a statement, the company said the problem occurred when the site's Web hosting was moved to a new provider. The company, which has begun an investigation, said the data does not appear to have been widely available.
