ST. PETERSBURG - A second person shot in a convenience store robbery Sunday has died, police said.
Ronald Hayworth, a 50-year-old transient who was a customer in the store, died at 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, St. Petersburg police spokesman Bill Proffitt said.
The owner of the store, Mohammad Nasir Uddin, 44, died Monday. A third person who was shot, customer Albert Barton, was at Bayfront Medical Center on Wednesday and was expected to survive.
The robbery occurred at 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Central Food Mart, 2157 Central Ave., police say.
Two suspects, Khadafy Mullens, 24, and Spencer Peeples, 27, are being held at Pinellas County Jail. They are accused of entering the store and taking cash, lottery tickets, cigarettes and the keys to Uddin's car.
After they left, Mullens went back into the store, found Uddin dialing 911 and shot him in the head, Proffitt said. Mullens also shot Hayworth in the head and then shot Barton as he walked through the door, Proffitt said.
Before the shooting, the robbers asked Uddin where the surveillance video recorder was, Proffitt said. Uddin showed them one and they took it, the police spokesman said.
Uddin didn't tell them about a second recorder nearby, which captured the robbery and shootings with quality images and sound, Proffitt said.
