New Dad Martin Taking Break To Bond With Babies

Is he going to start his own Menudo army? Ricky Martin is now the father of twin boys.

The Latin superstar had the children via a surrogate mother, and the babies were born a few weeks ago, according to a statement from his representatives.

"The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy, are healthy and already under Ricky's full-time care," said the statement. "Ricky is elated to begin this new chapter in his life as a parent and will be spending the remainder of the year out of the public spotlight in order to spend time with his children."

Simpson Now Shilling Light Beer
Jessica Simpson is now selling beer. The singer and actress has signed on as spokeswoman for Stampede Light Plus, made by Dallas' Stampede Brewing Co.

Simpson will appear in ads in stores for the beer and is taking a 15 percent stake in the brewer. The Dallas Morning News says terms were not disclosed.

Lawrence Schwartz, Stampede's president and chief executive, says Simpson is the now face of the brand.

Simpson said in a statement that as an entrepreneur she's "always looking for ways to diversify my portfolio with good ideas and good people."

Stampede Light bills itself as a beer for active people.

Memphis Opts To Keep Airport Name

Officials of Memphis International Airport say they probably won't change the airport's name to honor the late singer Isaac Hayes.

During a memorial service for Hayes on Monday, U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen publicly suggested changing the name of the airport.

Airport board chairman Arnold Perl told The Commercial Appeal newspaper that Memphis is one of the most respected and recognized brands in the world.

Perl said Hayes was a great ambassador for Memphis, but the current airport name best serves the city's needs.

Hayes died Aug. 10 of an apparent stroke at age 65.

Byrne's Bike Racks Adorning City

Musician, artist and bicycling enthusiast David Byrne has designed nine unusual bike racks that have been installed around New York City.

The Department of Transportation says the artistic installations by the Talking Heads singer are meant to spark interest in bicycling.

Each rack reflects its location. A guitar-shaped rack named Hipster has been placed in Brooklyn's trendy Williamsburg neighborhood. A rack that looks like a dollar sign is in the Wall Street area.
