TAMPA - An Oviedo man with ties to a drug scheme involving two former Pasco County Sheriff's Office employees entered a guilty plea Friday in U.S. District Court.
Robert Caddick pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone. He faces up to five years in federal prison.
No sentencing date was set.
According to court documents, Caddick had access to prescription drugs because he worked for Medipharm Pharmacy. He would steal the medications from the warehouse and bring them to another man, Kevin Massimino Jr. of Tampa, for distribution, according to court documents.
Investigators tied Massimino to former Pasco deputy Don Riggans and former detention deputy Rodney Philon. Investigators said Riggans and Philon were involved in a sting set up by federal agents in which Riggans stole drug money from a purported courier.
The money then was divided between Massimino and Riggans, according to court documents. Investigators said Riggans used his patrol car to stop the purported courier and take the money. Philon suggested Riggans take the money.
All four men were arrested in March. Riggans and Philon were immediately fired from the sheriff's office.
Philon pleaded guilty to drug charges in June and is set to be sentenced Sept. 12.
Riggans and Massimino are scheduled for status hearings on the same day.
