TAMPA - Another architect of past Lightning glory left the building Friday.

But former team president Ron Campbell won't be going far. A prominent part of the team's success in the nine years under the ownership umbrella of Palace Sports and Entertainment, Campbell will act as a senior adviser to the new ownership group, OK Hockey.

"I look forward to working with Oren Koules, Len Barrie and the new ownership during the transition phase and beyond, building on the foundation that has been established in recent years," said Campbell. "My hope is that Tampa Bay remains a very strong hockey market and we continue as a model franchise in the National Hockey League, on and off the ice."

Aside from his work in helping put a winning team on the ice - and a main cog in nixing the possible trade of center Vinny Lecavalier in 2001 - Campbell has also been instrumental in bring high-profile events to the Tampa area, including the 2008 NCAA Women's Final Four basketball tournament, the ACC men's basketball tournament, NCAA men's tournament regional games as well as the 2012 NCAA Frozen Four men's hockey tournament.

Campbell will remain employed by Palace Sports and Entertainment as an executive vice president, working closely with events and activities involving the Palace of Auburn Hills outside of Detroit.
