No one was hurt tonight when an Amtrak train carrying 105 passengers crashed into a truck stopped at the railroad tracks along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Dover, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies responded to a crash involving the truck that occurred about 6 p.m. where the railroad tracks meet Gallagher Road, the highway patrol said.
The driver, Jorge Garcia, 20, of Dover, was not inside the 1994 Mitsubishi pickup when the train hit. Deputies were trying to move the truck off the rails just before the Amtrak train passed through the intersection, striking the rear of the truck.
The train was not damaged and the engineer, David K. Lee, 55, of Fernandina, was not hurt, the highway patrol said.
