NEW PORT RICHEY - Fall classes kicked into gear Monday at Pasco-Hernando Community College and, in no time, activity was humming at the campus bookstore.
Among those searching the shelves for textbooks were Ryan Piemonte and Ryan Farrell, two sophomores with matching names and similar career aspirations.
For the two Ryans, it's all business.
Piemonte, 19, is a business finance major. Farrell, 20, said he's a business management major.
For those two and several thousand other PHCC students, the business at hand Monday was paying fees, buying books and scurrying to class.
More than 7,500 full- and part-time students were expected on the college's campuses in New Port Richey, Dade City and Brooksville. Late registration continues through Friday.
Students in New Port Richey were greeted by plenty of sunshine and Student Government Association members, who handed out student planners and offered help finding classroom buildings.
William Nguyen, 18, a freshman from Wesley Chapel, said he chose PHCC because he preferred the small-school atmosphere of a two-year college.
"It seemed like the more comfortable choice and a better transition from high school than a university," he said.
