GAINESVILLE - Lawrence Marsh is itching to make sure that the University of Florida's defensive line is no longer the reason the Gators don't live up to expectations.
UF's pass defense was last in the SEC in 2007, not only because of weaknesses in the secondary, but also because the line did not pressure the quarterback.
Marsh is making the transition from defensive end to defensive tackle, and he expects far different results this season.
"This year we're putting it on ourselves," Marsh said. "We feel like if we go out there and stop other teams there's no way we're going to lose. We just need to come together as a group. If all of us are successful there's no way we can fail."
LOOKING GOOD: Former Armwood High All-American Matt Patchan participated in a full practice for the first time Monday. The Gators have brought him along slowly after he was shot in the shoulder at a Brandon park in May, but it appears that he hasn't missed a beat.
"We got him into team stuff Monday and he adds a new speed to our defense," defensive line coach Dan McCarney said.
