NEW PORT RICHEY - Three people were arrested late Tuesday night in connection with a robbery at a motel on U.S. 19 on Aug. 8 in which a woman was beaten by a pair of female intruders.
The women, Alnisa Sanaa Tamika Dunham, 22, and Staci Shaunté Chandler, 32, both of Sanford, were arrested on one count each of home invasion robbery, according to the New Port Richey Police Department.
A third person arrested in the break-in at Room 207 of Valu-Lodge, 6523 U.S. 19, Cornelius Deshea Gordon, 21, of Sanford, was charged with one count each of home invasion robbery and tampering with a witness, police said.
Dunham and Chandler forced their way into the room after the victim answered a knock at the door about 10:25 a.m., according to a police account of the incident. The two intruders beat the woman and took more than $600 cash and assorted credit cards, then fled in a red four-door sedan, police said.
Police say Gordon was in the sedan. "He facilitated their departure from the area," Lt. Jeffrey Harrington of the Police Department said, referring to Dunham and Chandler.
After police developed Dunham, Chandler and Gordon as suspects in the motel robbery, they asked the Pasco County Sheriff's Office for help finding them. All three were known to stay in motels along U.S. 19, Harrington said.
Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Pasco sheriff's office alerted the New Port Richey Police Department that the trio had been found in Room 107 of the Tahitian Resort, 2337 U.S. 19, Holiday.
They are being held in Land O' Lakes Jail. Bail was set at $50,000 each for Chandler and Dunham and $155,000 for Gordon
