Crystal River Man Accused Of Shooting Teen

Citrus County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man accused of shooting a teen Wednesday afternoon near Copeland Park in Crystal River.

Devore Thomas, 21, of Crystal River is charged with attempted first-degree murder, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office said.

Witnesses told deputies that Thomas and Jesus Galarza, 19, were apparently arguing over a woman. The argument turned physical and Galarza was shot in the upper chest, the sheriff's office said. He was taken by medical helicopter to Shands Hospital in Gainesville. His condition was not known Wednesday night.

After a manhunt that lasted about 4 1/2 hours, deputies arrested Thomas at a Crystal River home not far from Copeland Park. He did not resist arrest and was expected to be booked into Citrus County Jail on Wednesday night.
