BRADENTON - Authorities say a 20-year-old man hit his girlfriend when she wouldn't have sex with him Monday morning and then went to a house armed with a machete and stole speaker equipment.
Adam D. Arling, 20, of the 6000 block of 12th Avenue West, was arrested at about 9 p.m. Monday on charges of battery, armed burglary with assault and obstruction without violence, according to a Manatee County sheriff's report.
At about 5:30 a.m. Monday, Arling tried to convince his girlfriend to have sex and struck her several times in the chest and face when she refused, according to a report.
About an hour and a half later, Arling woke the residents of a home in the 4500 block of 20th Street West by pounding on the front door and threatening them, according to a report.
Arling then entered the home's storage closet, stole speakers and a speaker box and left, according to a report.
Another man, Robert J. Cooper, 22, of Bradenton, was arrested on a charge of burglary for assisting Arling in stealing the speaker equipment.
