TRINITY - A "Hannah Montana" star helped spread the word that "clean hands are cool hands" at a Pasco County elementary school Monday.

The hospitals of HCA West Florida and the HCA Foundation teamed with Mitchel Musso, best known for his role as Oliver in the Disney Channel series "Hannah Montana," to create a public service announcement on the importance of hand washing to prevent the spread of a highly contagious bacteria in schools, a news release stated.
Musso was greeted with some squeals from the Trinity Elementary crowd and later signed a few autographs.

He bumped fists with Tysen Myers, 7, and signed the second-grader's leg cast after the program.

The Pasco County School District and the HCA Hospitals of Pasco launched the program Monday. It will be used in other Pasco schools to encourage children to wash their hands and prevent Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.

"It is important to make parents and kids aware of the little things that they can do at home and at school to prevent its MRSA's spread, such as washing their hands with soap and water or using a hand sanitizer," said Jonathan B. Perlin, HCA's chief medical officer, in a news release.
