Jaguars Stymie Redskins In Finale

LANDOVER, Md. - Gregg Williams showed up the team that let him go, his Jacksonville Jaguars defense stopping cold a Redskins first-string attack that once again looked far from ready for the regular season in a 24-3 Jacksonville win.

The Jaguars held the Redskins' starters to 14 total yards in three first-quarter drives.

DOLPHINS 14, SAINTS 10: Ronnie Brown rushed 12 times for 47 yards and powered his way into the end zone on a 1-yard run to help Miami win its third straight preseason contest. Former Michigan quarterback Chad Henne completed 16 of 20 passes for 137 yards and an 8-yard touchdown to former Jets tight end Sean Ryan.

JETS 27, EAGLES 20: With Brett Favre sitting out, fourth-string quarterback Erik Ainge led the Jets over the Eagles.
Donovan McNabb also had a nice view from the bench. Kevin Kolb guided the Eagles to 13 points on their first three possessions.
Jesse Chatman had 180 total yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown for the Jets. Hank Poteat intercepted A.J. Feeley's pass at the Jets 10 to end an Eagles' drive with 2:52 remaining.

GIANTS 19, PATRIOTS 14: David Carr threw a 26-yard scoring pass to tight end Darcy Johnson on the Giants' opening possession and he added a 9-yarder to Sinorice Moss late in the second quarter.

The winless Patriots looked anemic until fourth-string quarterback Kevin O'Connell came on in the fourth quarter.

LIONS 14, BILLS 6: The Bills played one starter, safety Ko Simpson, and the Lions played seven, including Jerome Felton, the starting fullback, who scored on a 9-yard reception from Dan Orlovsky, the backup quarterback. The Lions closed the preseason with an NFL-best 4-0 record.

BENGALS 27, COLTS 7: The Bengals scored touchdowns on their first two series and backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was 5-for-8 for 35 yards with one TD pass to lead Cincinnati.

STEELERS 19, PANTHERS 16: Jeff Reed kicked his fourth field goal of the game and his eighth in less than a week, a 43-yarder on the last play. Carolina didn't do much offensively except for three John Kasay field goals until No. 3 quarterback Brett Basanez threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Chris Hannon with 1:54 remaining.

FALCONS 10, RAVENS 9: D.J. Shockley replaced Atlanta rookie Matt Ryan and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brian Finneran with 20 seconds left in the first half. It turned out to be the only TD in a lackluster contest dominated by both defenses. Matt Stover kicked field goals of 25, 31 and 48 yards for the Ravens

BEARS 16, BROWNS 10: Brady Quinn lead Cleveland on two scoring drives, finishing 7-for-9 for 65 yards in his two series.

Kyle Orton, recently picked to start the season at quarterback over Rex Grossman, went 4-for-7 for 51 yards with one interception. Grossman was 5-for-7 for 59 yards and threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Rideau in the second quarter.

TITANS 23, PACKERS 21: Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took the rest of the night off after throwing a touchdown pass on his first snap, and Tennessee held on to win despite continued inconsistent play by quarterback Vince Young.

COWBOYS 16, VIKINGS 10: Cowboys' rookie running back Tashard Choice had an 11-yard touchdown run and Nick Folk kicked two 52-yard field goals and a 23-yarder.

John David Booty, the fifth-round draft pick from Southern California, started and threw an interception on his first pass. He played the entire first half, going 8-for-15 for 93 yards.

CHIEFS 21, RAMS 17: Brodie Croyle directed two quick touchdown drives and Kansas City's offense grabbed some much-needed momentum. After the start of the game was delayed 1 hour, 26 minutes by a rain and wind storm, Marcus Riley recovered Dantrell Savage's fumble on the kickoff and the Rams took a 3-0 lead on Josh Brown's 35-yard field goal.
