TEMPLE TERRACE - Joe Affronti has won a second four-year term as mayor of Temple Terrace, with no challengers to his re-election bid.

"I'm just so grateful that I'm able to serve another four years for the city," said Affronti, 76, the only person who filed the required candidacy forms. "I want to thank everyone for having the confidence in me and what I'm doing."

Two seats on the five-member city council will be up for grabs Nov. 4.

Ted Grevencamp, 63, Mary Jane Neale, 71, David Penoyer, 35, and incumbent Ron Govin, 68, are vying for the four-year city council positions held by Frank Chillura and Govin. The seats will be filled by the top two vote-getters in the nonpartisan race.

Chillura, 40, in his second four-year stint on the council, is bound by term limits to step aside.

Govin was elected to the council in 2004. He holds a bachelor's degree in business and accounting from the University of Tampa and is chief executive officer of MarkMaster, a manufacturer of rubber stamps and name badges. The 22-year resident of Temple Terrace also has served eight years on the Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission.

"It's been a great experience. ... I feel like I've been able to give back and help to meet the needs out there," Govin said.

Grevencamp is a retired Army colonel and has lived in Temple Terrace for 15 years. He has a bachelor's degree in business from The Ohio State University. He has never run for elective office.

"I don't have a full-time job at the moment, but if I'm elected I plan to make that my full-time work," he said.

Neale, who has bachelor's degrees in art and education from the University of Miami, has made her home in Temple Terrace since 1991. She is an active volunteer and member of several community-based organizations.

"I've never run for office, … and I have no agenda but to serve the community I love," she said.

Penoyer has lived in the city for 10 years. In 2004, he unsuccessfully sought the Democratic Party nomination to run for the Florida House District 60 seat. Penoyer could not be reached for comment.
