DELRAY BEACH - Authorities say a SWAT team assault rifle and other items were stolen from an unmarked Palm Beach County sheriff's office sport utility vehicle.
Deputy Andrew Richter parked the department-issued vehicle in a lot outside a church Monday while he attended his grandfather's funeral in Delray Beach.
Authorities say that upon returning, he found the rear passenger window had been smashed and the rifle was missing along with other SWAT team items, including a vest, badge, holsters and his sheriff's office identification card.
A nearby vehicle also was robbed.
