TAMPA - A registered sex offender in Pennsylvania faces charges of tempting a minor to have sex after federal authorities say he chatted online with an undercover agent in Tampa posing as a teenage girl.
Federal agents say William Luther Young, 41, of Marietta, Pa., had e-mail and instant message correspondence with who he thought was a 14-year-old and tried to get "her" to engage in sexual activity.
Young was charged with attempted enticement of a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity. If convicted, Young could face life in prison and a fine of $250,000.
In 1997, Young was found guilty in Pennsylvania of traveling across state lines with intent of sex with a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
