TAMPA A house fire investigators say was set intentionally today has left seven people looking for shelter.
Firefighters responded to the single-story home at 1509 E. Shadowlawn Ave. at about 7:50 a.m. and had the fire under control in about 10 minutes, Tampa Fire Rescue officials reported.
Investigators with the Tampa Fire Marshals Office said flammable liquid had been poured on the back patio to set the fire, and an arson investigation is under way. Damage was estimated at $75,000.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire. Fire officials said the owner came to the home after firefighters arrived. The American Red Cross was trying to find shelter for the seven people who lived there.
Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call Fire Investigator Milton Jenkins, (813) 310-7266, or the Tampa Fire Marshals Office, (813) 274-7000
