ST. PETERSBURG One person was injured in a house fire that broke out in a garage that had been converted to a bedroom, fire officials said.
Firefighters saw smoke and fire coming from the garage of a home at 2834 24th St. N. when they arrived at 1 p.m. today, the St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue department reported.
The fire was under control in about 10 minutes. The flames were confined to the garage, but smoke damage was sustained throughout the home. Investigators estimated the damages at $30,000.
One person, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital, fire rescue reported.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
