TAMPA - Police broke up a home burglary today and in the process arrested three teenagers they say are linked to a string of burglaries and car thefts.
Police officers, responding to a neighbor's call, went to a reported burglary at 8115 N. Hillsborough Lane about 11:15 a.m. As they arrived, the three burglars fled, but the officers set up a perimeter in the neighborhood and quickly apprehended the teens, police reported.
Arrested were Denzel Devon McGee, 15, 1609 Poinsettia Ave.; Johnny Junior Coleman, 17, 8215 N. 18th St.; and Milton Eugene Foster, 15, 3627 E. Chelsea St. They each were charged with grand theft and burglary and transferred to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Police said the three are suspected in a series of burglaries, grand thefts and auto thefts in Hillsborough and surrounding counties. No details were available.
McGee recently was released from the Juvenile Assessment Center after an arrest on burglary and grand theft auto charges, police said.
Coleman also has a previous arrest for burglary and grand theft, and is wanted by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in connection with burglary, grand theft, grand theft auto, and fleeing to elude charges, police said.
