School Bus Driver Arrested On DUI Charge

TAMPA - A Hillsborough County school bus driver was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving under the influence.

Antonio Pierre Carter, 23, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet SUV at 1 a.m. Sunday and was pulled over by police at the corner of Fowler Avenue and Nebraska Avenue, a few blocks from his home on DeBeers Drive, according to police reports.

Police reports on the incident said he had bloodshot and glassy eyes, and swayed while trying to stand. His blood alcohol content was reported at .194, more than twice the amount that Florida law considers a driver to be impaired.

The arrest record of the incident lists him as a bus driver for Hillsborough County Schools. Carter was released Sunday morning on $500 bail. He could not be reached for comment.
