BRANDON - Three families are busy dusting the mantels, decking the halls and preparing to welcome a flurry of holiday visitors into their homes.
The Brandon Service League holds its Holiday Home Tour each year to benefit local charities and community service organizations such as the Emergency Care Help Organization and the American Cancer Society.
Welcoming tour guests into their homes this year are Monica and Dave Cox, and Scott and Chris Etherington of River Hills in Valrico, and John and Ellen Matheson of FishHawk Trails Reserve in Lithia.
Service League officer Vicki Butler said guests are guided through each home while volunteers share stories about the homeowners' holiday traditions and decorations. Gourmet treats and refreshments are offered for sale and guests can win holiday gift baskets filled with seasonal items.
"We raise a lot of money for some great charities, and with the holiday music and decorations and festive spirit, everyone just enjoys the tour so much," Butler said.
