LAND O' LAKES - The Pasco County School Board's tight budget is about to get tighter.
The board has scheduled a workshop for 4 p.m. today to talk about how to go about cutting millions of dollars in spending. The school district needs to come up with a plan to deal with an anticipated shortfall, as the state Department of Education cuts funding for school districts all across the state.
That's on top of the cuts that have already been made. The school board began this fiscal year July 1 with a $16 million spending cut to the general fund. The budget problems have led to an impasse in contract negotiations with United School Employees of Pasco.
Today's budget workshop will be followed by a 6 p.m. board meeting.
