NAPLES - Police in southwest Florida say an 18-year-old man swallowed a pair of earrings after stealing them from a store at a Naples mall.
Naples Police said Monday that an X-ray showed the stolen earrings inside William Colburn. Authorities say he faces charges of retail theft, tampering with evidence and possession of marijuana.
Colburn was in a JCPenney on Saturday when authorities say a store security spotted him take earrings out of a box and drop them into a bottle of water. Police say he then left the store without paying for the merchandise and went into the mall.
When a security officer approached Colburn and began walking him back to the store's security office, authorities say Colburn drank the water and swallowed the earrings.
