TAMPA - A man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the neck Tuesday night was caught after running away from deputies, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded to 2010 51st St., Tampa, about 5:40 p.m. and found Ranaye Donnelly, 50, with a gunshot wound in her neck, authorities say. Deputies chased the suspected shooter, a 35-year-old man, on foot and caught him in the area of 48th and 19th streets, the sheriff's office said.
The man is not cooperating with deputies and refuses to provide identification, sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said in a statement.
He has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and was booked into Orient Road Jail.
Donnelly was awake and alert when she was taken to Tampa General Hospital, Carter said.
Witnesses told deputies that Donnelly lives with the man and the two got into an argument earlier Tuesday evening.
