LARGO - A Pinellas County sheriff's deputy has been reprimanded for depositing money he found into his bank account, according to documents released today. The money was later found to be counterfeit.
On Sept. 13, Deputy Chad Earl found $360 in the parking lot where he lives. Instead of reporting the money as found property, Earl deposited it, a memorandum says. His bank discovered the cash was counterfeit.
Earl received a written reprimand. He was found to have violated procedures regarding property and evidence, the memorandum says.
