TAMPA - Construction of a high-end movie theater that will offer cocktails, appetizers and dinner along with movies is scheduled to begin early next year at Hyde Park Village in South Tampa.
The theater will be built on the site of the former Sunrise Cinema.
Cobb Theatres plans to begin construction in January of a CineBistro theater that will have six screens, reserved seating and dining tables. Cocktails and appetizers will be available in the lobby bar. Patrons can order a meal that will be served before the movie.
Attendance at the theater is for customers 21 or older, and each movie screen will have about 85 seats.
Developers are shooting for a summer opening, Wasserman Real Estate, owners of Hyde Park Village, said in an announcement released Monday. The theater also can host small theater productions and corporate meetings.
The village covers seven blocks at Swann and South Dakota avenues.
