LAND O' LAKES - Sunlake's Jordan Landry has picked up where he left off during his freshman year last season as the sophomore has scored 10 goals in five games for the Seahawks.
Q. Last year, as a first-year program, Sunlake went 7-13-4. This year, you're off to a 4-0-1 start. What's the difference this year?
A. We definitely have more talent this year and we're coming together more as a team.
Q. Last year, as a freshman, you scored 17 goals. This year you already have 10 goals. Is it the added talent or is it just another year of maturity?
A. Both, I think. There's more talent at center-mid with Miguel [Laliberte] and David [Danahy]. They've been sending good through-balls and I've just been putting them away.
Q. What kind of goals did you set before the season?
A. To get about 35 goals.
Q. As a team, you are off to a 4-0-1 start. What has been the change from last season?
A. We have momentum right now. We have big games this week against Wesley Chapel [Wednesday] and Hudson [Friday]. The coaches are doing a much better job this year. Last year we just played a lot and got to know the team. Now we're doing more conditioning, more work and more finishing drills. We've come a long way.
Q. Where do you see this team finishing when January comes?
A. It's going good. We'll definitely finish somewhere near the top [in Class 4A-District 8].
