DEMOCRATS

•Alex Sink - State chief financial officer, from Tampa, is her party's 800-pound gorilla - if she wants the nomination, it's hers.

•Jim Davis - Former Tampa congressman isn't interested.

•Pam Iorio - Since winning the Tampa mayor's office, has been considered a likely statewide candidate at some point.

•Allen Boyd - Congressman from Monticello is considering the race, but isn't well-known statewide.

•Dan Gelber - Miami Beach state senator is well-liked in the party, not well-known statewide, but is interested.

•Ron Klein - Second-term Boca Raton congressman is said to be interested.

•Others: U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek, Miami fundraiser Chris Korge, Tampa businessman Frank Sanchez.

REPUBLICANS

•Jeb Bush - Former governor let it be known he's seriously considering the race.

•Charlie Crist - Florida governor could see the Senate seat as a good platform for presidential ambitions.

•Bill McCollum - State attorney general is seriously considering the race.

•Adam Putnam - Bartow congressman has ambitions, but probably leans more toward Tallahassee than Washington.

•Marco Rubio - Former state House speaker from Miami would interest the conservative side of the party.

•Adam Hasner - Delray Beach state House majority leader is interested.

•Others: Almost any GOP congressman
