Power has its privileges, but Gov. Charlie Crist played it fair and square when he got his spot on the wedding calendar at First United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg.
December is a popular month for weddings, with some couples booking a year in advance, said Patti Adams, assistant to the church's pastor, the Rev. David Miller. Crist and his fiancée, Carole Rome, didn't give nearly that much notice for their nuptials Dec. 12, but the date was available, Adams said. No one had to be bumped to make way for the first couple.
The ceremony will be a traditional Methodist service with traditional music, Adams said. Miller will officiate. The wedding is expected to last less than an hour.
The historical downtown church was established in 1887. The building, constructed in the 1920s, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has 10 pictorial stained-glass windows that detail the life of Christ. The Tiffany windows were dedicated in 1926.
