A warrant has been issued for a 25-year-old Tampa man after one person was fatally shot and another wounded Thursday afternoon in Plant City, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Francisco Rangel of 4536 Golfwood Blvd. is wanted on warrants for second-degree murder and attempted murder, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said in a statement.
Rangel is wanted in connection to the slaying of Michael James Longoria, whose body was found in the backyard of 3506 Juanita Drive in Plant City about 1:15 p.m., authorities say.
Longoria, 36, was shot in the stomach and chest and died at the scene, Carter said.
A 29-year-old man, whose name was not released by authorities, was shot in the abdomen as he ran away from the shooter, Carter said. He was taken to South Florida Baptist Hospital, where he was listed in guarded condition Thursday night.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Francisco Rangel can call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
