Manatee County Man Accused Of Sex With Step-Grandaughter, 7

MANATEE COUNTY - The step-grandfather of a 7-year-old girl was arrested on sex charges after her grandmother told authorities she found the child's diary that spelled out sex acts she had with the man.

The man told authorities the child often initiated the sexual contact with him, including inappropriate touching and oral sex, authorities said.

Michael W. Kelly, 50, of the 4200 block of 38th Avenue East, was arrested on charges of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious molestation and exhibition, soliciting a minor and showing a minor an obscene movie, according to a report.

The girl's grandmother found the diary, which detailed her interactions with Kelly, including oral sex performed by him and her as well as watching pornographic films with him, according to a Manatee Sheriff's report.

The crimes occurred at unknown times this year, the report said.

Kelly told investigators the girl is "aggressive" and "persistent," and that she initiated the sexual contact when they were alone.
