TAMPA - A Plant City man stole items worth $1,430 and then sold them for $65, Hillsborough County deputies said.
Dustin James Singletary, 23, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Plant City.
On Nov. 24, Singletary stole a $950 generator and sold it for $25 at Pawn Express in Plant City, an arrest report states.
On Tuesday morning, deputies say, he stole a JVC stereo/CD player and amplifier — total value $480 — from a 1988 Ford F-150. He pawned the stereo at Value Pawn in Plant City for $25 and sold the amplifier to an unknown man for $15.
That same day, Singletary broke the window of a 1999 Nissan Maxima, causing $250 damage, and stole a purse containing items worth $60, a report states. He also called 911 and made a false report to conceal the crime.
Singletary faces charges of dealing in stolen property, grand theft, burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, giving false information to a pawn broker, petty theft, criminal mischief and giving a false report to law enforcement.
He was being held in Orient Road Jail today, with bail set at $35,750.
