LAND O' LAKES - Publix opened its newest store this morning at State Road 54 and Sunlake Boulevard in south-central Pasco County.
The new store opened at 8 a.m. in The Shoppes at Sunlake Centre, a plaza under development by Amprop Development Corp. between Mentmore Boulevard and the soon-to-open Sunlake Boulevard.
Amprop is close to finishing the first leg of Sunlake, which will run north from State Road 54 to Mentmore. Future plans call for connecting the new road to the existing Sunlake Boulevard in Hillsborough County as well as adding a traffic signal at Sunlake and State Road 54.
Amprop also has plans for future retail development south of State Road 54 in the Long Lake Ranch development.
The 45,600-square-foot store carries all features found in other Publix supermarkets across the region. It will employ 110 people, according to officials with Publix's Lakeland headquarters.
The store will be open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
