TAMPA - If you're tired of bad real estate news, here's encouragement: Tampa is the top metro area in Florida for singles who relocate, according to an industry survey.
And it gets even better: The Bay area came in 11th out of the largest 100 metro areas in the nation.
"Relocating to a city can be both exciting and overwhelming for an individual," said Michelle Vallejo, spokeswoman for the national relocation companies that issued the report. "This survey identifies those factors that help ease the transition for singles, while helping HR professionals better predict the success rates of their employee transfers."
The survey was conducted by Washington, D.C.-based Worldwide ERC, an association of corporate and government relocation managers, real-estate companies, movers and service firms. Memphis, Tenn.-based Primacy Relocation, an employee-relocation service, also participated in the survey.
The survey measured issues impacting a newcomer's experience in the weeks and months after a transfer.
Specifically, it looked at the cost of living, rates of rental apartments, job growth, unemployment rates and cost of education. It also looked at each area's arts and recreation opportunities.
