TAMPA - University of South Florida junior DE George Selvie was named a first team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association Thursday.

Selvie is USF's first repeat All-American. Last season, he was the school's first consensus All-American and joined teammate and current Dallas Cowboys CB Mike Jenkins as the first first-team All-America honorees in program history.

"What an honor," Selvie said. "This one has special meaning because it is the coaches that vote on the award. To gain their recognition for a second consecutive season is more than I ever envisioned."

Selvie has played with an ankle injury for most of this season. He still has 11 tackles for loss and five sacks.

Projected as first-round NFL Draft pick, Selvie said he will determine after USF's bowl game whether he will return for his senior year at USF.

Selvie is among 128 players that have earned AFCA Coaches' All-America Team honors two or more times since the first team was announced in 1945.

Selvie and Cincinnati punter Kevin Huber were the only Big East players on this year's AFCA team.
