A woman spent her 43rd birthday in jail, accused of striking her husband in the head with a bottle and trying to throw her grandmother to the ground, police said.
Lilwanda Miller Thompson was held without bail today at the Falkenburg Road Jail, records show. She is charged with felony battery on a person over 65 and two misdemeanors, battery and resisting an officer without violence.
Tampa police arrested Thompson at her 81-year-old grandmother's house in the 3100 block of East Knollwood Street about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. Wednesday was Thompson's birthday, records show.
According to an affidavit, Thompson got into an argument with her grandmother, grabbed her and tried to throw her to the ground. Thompson's husband intervened by holding the women in a bear hug to prevent the grandmother from falling, police said.
After the husband released them, thinking "the violence was over," Thompson struck her husband in the head with a bottle, the affidavit states.
The affidavit does not identify the husband or the grandmother or relate the extent of the husband's injuries.
