It took only 30 minutes to knock down a garage fire Thursday night, but St. Petersburg firefighters weren't able to salvage three vehicles, including a Mini Cooper. All three cars were destroyed. No one was injured.
The 8:17 p.m. alarm at 3123 39th St. S. brought out city firefighters who saw smoke and flames coming from the single-story, block, three-car garage. The flames were shooting some 25 feet into the air when they arrived.
Firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading into the interior of the triplex apartment building but weren't able to save the vehicles: a 1999 Sebring convertible, a 2003 Mini Cooper and a 1986 Chrysler New Yorker.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
