ST. PETERSBURG - Police are searching for a man they say tried to abduct a 15-year-old girl walking home from St. Pete High School this afternoon.
The man is described as a dark-skinned white man or light-skinned black man weighing 250 to 275 pounds. He has a mustache, low cut hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a gray T-shirt and silver cap.
He had a large brown and white dog with him and was riding a red and black bicycle.
The girl had missed her bus and was walking home in the 200 block of 22nd Street North when the man approached her about 2:45 p.m., St. Petersburg police said. When the girl ignored the man's advances, he grabbed her and dragged her toward an alley, but she kicked him and was able to escape.
Anyone with information on the case should call Detective Joe Bross at (727) 893-4979 or the Police Communication Center at (727) 893-7780.
