One week from tonight, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and girlfriend Carole Rome will say their "I do's," and a Tampa florist is helping put the finishing touches on the big event.
"There's thousands of florists in the state of Florida, and they chose us," said Ian Prosser, owner of Botanica International Design Studio.
Prosser said when it came to choosing flowers, Crist was no shrinking violet.
"He was very much more involved than I expected he would be, and he had some really great input but was certainly deferring to her," Prosser said.
The nationally recognized floral designer said the couple's guest list has bloomed, but he's not complaining.
"It's mushroomed a little bit for them, so that's nice," he said. "And good for us because it means they need more flowers."
Elaborate events are nothing new for Prosser. He served as lead floral designer for President Bill Clinton's 1991 inauguration and for both the Bush inaugural celebrations. Such events involve about 500,000 stems.
Prosser said the Crist wedding is a smaller affair with an "understated, elegant and sophisticated" style. He's keeping mum on the details but said the couple picked a soft color palette.
Prosser said he was surprised by the governor's affable nature.
"I thought he would have been more intimidating perhaps, but he wasn't and it's been very pleasant," Prosser said.
