Troopers: Auburndale Man Dies When Van Hits Culvert

AUBURNDALE - An 25-year-old Auburndale man died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday night on Recker Highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Francisco Javier Ramirez was driving south about 9:21 p.m. when his van swerved into the northbound lane and went off the east shoulder into a ditch, troopers said. The 1989 Chevrolet van then struck a concrete culvert just north of Commercial Boulevard, troopers said.
Ramirez, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, troopers said.
