ST. LEO - A busy awards season for Saint Leo's volleyball team culminated this week in a couple of All-America honors for two of the Lions' biggest contributors.
Setter Michelle Nogueras (third team) and outside hitter-middle blocker Kaitlin McKenna (honorable mention) were named Division II All-Americans by the American Volleyball Coaches' Association on Wednesday.
A past national player of the week, Nogueras, a junior, finished the year with 1,359 assists and a .343 attack percentage. McKenna, a sophomore, stands seventh in NCAA Division II in hitting percentage (.398) after winning the title last year.
Only one Sunshine State Conference player (Tampa's Melissa Vanderhall) was named to the All-America first team. Concordia-St. Paul setter Maggie McNamara was named the D-II Player of the Year.
