Mitchell girls basketball player Lashe Kirkland sank what seemed to be an improbable shot in a 55-44 loss at Sickles on Wednesday night.
Dribbling just inside the 3-point line parallel to the sideline, she dribbled near the baseline and, seemingly falling out of bounds, threw up a shot that somehow banked off the backboard and in.
Kirkland talks about the shot.
Why did you pick such a difficult angle to shoot from?
I just tried to shoot it. I didn't think it would go in.
Was it a desperation shot?
I was trying to draw a foul. I guess I didn't get the call.
So you were leaning in hoping to get a foul and a pair of free throws?
Yeah. I was leaning forward trying to draw a foul.
Did you think it would go in?
I didn't see it go in. I didn't know until after the fact because I fell so far out of bounds.
Have you ever made as difficult a shot as that before?
I tried to do a reverse pass across the court one time, but the ball hit the backboard and went right in.
